Movie Maker Update Interview

World in Conflict Movie Maker Update Interview
with Tobias Nyman and Marcus Beausang

What’s new with the Movie Maker Tool?

MARCUS: First of all there is now a possibility to export a sound file along with your video file! There is also a new feature to automatically start and stop the video (and audio) recording. You no longer have to press the ’.’ key when the movie path starts and then press it again when the path ends. See the manual for more information on how to get this feature started.

TOBIAS: Having this sound feature included in the Movie Maker Tool is a great opportunity for movie makers, and the automatic start feature really makes it easier to sync the sound with the video files.

How do I get the sound feature?

TOBIAS: It’s in the latest update, meaning Update 5.

How does it work?

MARCUS: It captures the sound that you hear in-game and saves it to a sound file on your hard drive.

TOBIAS: You create and load your camera-paths as usual in the replays, but with this new feature you can choose to automatically record the video (CinAutoRecordVideo 1) and the audio (CinAutoRecordAudio 1). To do this you have to open the replay two times, first to record the video and then to record the audio (or vice versa).

What sound quality can I expect?

MARCUS: You can expect the same sound quality you get in-game.

TOBIAS: It records what you hear. So if you, for instance, don’t want the voices – just go into options and turn that off. But note that if you’re going to edit it all together, it will probably sound better if you turn off the music!
